Thanks AG for your guest post! It’s been quite the adventure through Fitnessland, hasn’t it? Somehow knowing that you half passed-out during a RubySlippers circuit, makes me feel validated LOL! But we’re Survivors & as anyone who has trained with RubySlippers knows, she likes to prove that Iago’s words are true “You’d be surprised what you can live through”… because that’s just how pro she is 😉
I’m not going to lie, I’ve enjoyed your T-Rex phase, especially watching you grunt when you dropped stuff at the beach and dreaded having to reach for it. I know it’s terrible that I laughed instead of reaching over and helping you get it, but you’ve known for a while that I’m medium bad that way right? Plus you got to laugh at me trying to sit on the floor at your engagement party post leg-day workout with RubySlippers so in the end we are mutually entertaining. Me in baby giraffe mode & you with T-Rex arms bahahaha! Aren’t you glad you met me 😉
I hope that by reading your post & some of mine, people out there will realize that if we’ve come this far then anyone can do it! We’re just your regular girl-next-door, no gimmicks, no fat burning pills, no laxatives, no lipo, no ground breaking weight loss meds or superpowers other than the new found determination to train hard and reclaim control of our bodies & our lives. Oh, and really let’s just be honest with all my imacookiefiend followers, because now that you’re engaged and have added a destination wedding to the mix we’re not kidding anyone…the secret of our new goal is out! This new gym year starts August 1st and more than just being healthy now what we really want is to be ripped goddesses come beach wedding time next year, so it’s on! 😎
So here’s our challenge to all of you boys & girls out there, lets all get fit & ripped together! Get active, get moving, and start changing your life for the better. You are the only one who can actually truly change You, so get to it! It won’t happen overnight, so the sooner you start, the sooner you’ll start seeing results. Train hard, eat cleaner and give it at least twelve weeks. Also, forget the scale & the mirrors, let your clothes be the judge of your progress. When your pants and underwear start looking baggy and falling you’ll know it’s working! Remember that there will be roadblocks and setbacks. Sometimes you’ll slip and you might even curse at your baby carrots and take your rage out on a chicken breast or tomato while you slice it, but that’s fine, just take a deep breath and make quesadillas. Don’t beat yourself up over it, instead just dust yourself off and start back up again.
Remember when you were a kid learning something new, trying to get across all the monkey bars or playing a new video game… oh wait, that was me last week, but you get the idea that when you were a kid everything was a new challenge but you kept at it till you got it. You wanted to be able to do stuff, and to flaunt how good you were at it. Yet somewhere along the way as “adults” we lose that.
Why is it that we’re born so strong kicking and screaming but then a few years down the road we just lose that spirit? Obviously the answer is different for each and everyone of us as we each have our own storyline in life. But just because things didn’t work out in the past doesn’t mean you have to give up on yourself and settle. Deep down inside you is that inner child waiting to be unleashed and help you start enjoying life again with that same sense of awe and wonder that made the world your playground and had the power to turn any big old cardboard box into the Millennium Falcon.
So stop being so uptight, and smile more often. Laugh out loud in real life it’s way more fun than just texting LOL & IRL back to your friends while staring at your phone expressionless. Find out what makes you happy and as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone, then go out there and do it. Make time for yourself and during that time whether it’s a day or 5 minutes be what my inspiring friend Mel likes to call on her blog “selfishly authentic”. Decide that you are important, that you have potential beyond your wildest dreams, that you are strong and tenacious and that you deserve to be the best that you can be. Once you decide that and chose to take action, nothing will stop you! Some things in life will trip you as hurdles do to track athletes, but just as they get back up and going so will you!
You just have to believe in yourself and love yourself enough to change. Because nothing changes if nothing changes, and this is something only you can do for yourself. Others can root for you as AG, my family & friends do for me, but at the end of the day if I don’t put in the work then no matter how loud they cheer me on things aren’t going to change on their own. So don’t be afraid to train hard, to sweat, to cry, or feel pukey post workout, just do it and shower so your loved ones and the general public don’t avoid you…I tell you it will all be worth it! More so if you wear deodorant, so please do 🙂
Also, If you think you’re alone and you don’t have anyone in your corner rooting for you, well I hate to break it to you but you’re wrong! Because (A) That inner child I was telling you about a.k.a YOU #1 is totally betting all his/her chips on you to succeed and (B) We’re in this together, we’re on the same team, same fit train so no matter how small the progress we’re proud of you for being brave enough to raise to the challenge! So get to it, no more excuses!!! And please, please, please be safe! If you live somewhere that is unsafe then don’t put yourself at risk, there are plenty of workout you can do right at home no matter how limited the space, so there’s no need to leave the safety of your home if you don’t have to.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, for reading, sharing, commenting, and following! All those stars & plus signs that pop-up when I log-in truly make my day & motivate me beyond what words can express! Keep choosing to be happy, keep aspiring to inspire & have an awesome week-end!!!!
P.S. Also go watch Despicable Me 2, your inner child will love it!
